Owls are birds which include about two hundred species of mostly solitary and nocturnal birds of prey typified by an upright stance, a large, broad head, binocular vision, binaural hearing, sharp talons, and feathers adapted for silent flight.
They have large, forward facing eyes, ear holes, as well as a facial disc, to focus sharply on sounds. They possess hawk-like beaks, flat faces and binocular vision capabilities.
They are well known for their exceptional head turning abilities, being able to rotate their heads nearly 300 degrees, thanks to extra neck vertebrae.
